The Virtual Reality (VR) section of the National Brain Mapping Laboratory (NBML), equipped with the most advanced devices of virtual reality in the world, is ready to implement the researchers’ projects in the fields of the brain and cognitive sciences.
Virtual reality is composed of the two words “Virtual” meaning virtual (near) and “Reality” meaning actuality, in other words, this action creates a near-reality experience for a person. Normally, human beings have an environmental senses series through which he/she communicates with the world around. All our perceptions of the environment are formed using these sensory inputs.
Creating the correct input for these senses is what happens in VR to virtually provide a person with an experience close to the desired reality. Virtual reality systems are taken to the desired space using glasses and a phone. Special categories are used in newer systems to experience the feeling of having a hand in cyberspace.
National Brain Mapping Laboratory (NBML), with the latest VR equipment, two virtual reality devices (Oculus Rift and HTC vive pro) in a completely safe and hygienic space measuring 25 square meters, provides the ability to perform a wide range of tests in this area. Also in this laboratory, it is possible to record fNIRS, EEG and EMG signals simultaneously with VR. It is also possible to perform fMRI tests before and after VR.
In this laboratory, cognitive or therapeutic tasks are designed through VR.
