The final stage of the first national EEG data analysis competition with clinical applications

The National Brain Mapping Lab (NBML) staged a competition to improve the contribution of computational neuroscience researchers in bringing the knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and Brain Signal Processing to clinical use.

The National Brain Mapping Lab (NBML) staged a competition to improve the contribution of computational neuroscience researchers in bringing the knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and Brain Signal Processing to clinical use. The first stage of this competition was done in September 2019.

In the first stage, a collection of data was given to the competitors with a healthy/diseased label. They had to be used to train or calculate the model's parameters (statistical and/or neural network). Then a new set of data, without any label, was given to the competitors to evaluate their methods. The competitors announced the label of the data, and based on the results, six teams were invited to the final stage: Infinity, Pardazeshgaran-e Signal-e Maghzi, Pajouheshkhadeh Maghz Va Shenakht-e Shahid Beheshti (Shahid Beheshti's brain and cognitive research lab), Jadooye Pardazesh, Royan, and Mahfel-e Qoqnoos.

In the final Stage, on October 8, 2019, a set of unknown data was given to the competitors and the judges evaluate the speed and accuracy of the answers. Based on the jury's verdict, the following teams were announced as winners:

The first position: Pardazeshgaran-e Signal-e Maghzi (Tahereh Talei and Fatemeh Jamalou)

The second position: Jadooye Pardazesh (Tayyebeh Rajabzadeh and Majid Moghaddari)

The third position: Mahfel-e Qoqnoos (Ali Gholamzadeh, Mahdi Nikdan, Mohammad Javad Gholamzadeh, and Seyyed Alireza Fatemi Jahromi)

Competition prizes will be awarded at the 8th Congress of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience on December 18 to 20, 2019.
