Celebration of the International Day of Medical Physics, November 2019

On November 7, 1867, Marie Sklodowska-Curie, known for her pioneering research on radioactivity, was born in Poland.

On November 7, 1867, Marie Sklodowska-Curie, known for her pioneering research on radioactivity, was born in Poland. For this occasion, this day is celebrated as the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) and this year, it is celebrated worldwide with the message of “it’s a medical physics world!”

Iranian Association of Medical Physics in collaborating with NBML celebrated the day attended with professors and students of this major. First, Dr. Ay, the Professor of Medical Physics at TUMS and the Director of NBML welcomed guests, introduced the lab and its services, which are provided to develop the science of medical physics in the lab. Then Dr. Bijan Hashemi Malyeri, declared the IDMP 2019 message to the audience:

“It’s a medical physics world!”. This message refers to the global broadness of this field of study and the large number of medical physicists worldwide who having joined the scientific and professional associations of medical physics, insert their professional and occupational identities into the global map of medical sciences.

Then Dr. Mohammad Amin Mosleh-Shirazi, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and the board member of the directors of the Iranian Medical Physics Association, discussed the principles of peer review.

After a short break, Dr. Mazdarani, Dr. Ay, and Dr. Mahdizadeh, Chief Editors of JBPE, FBT, IJRR journals, introduced these journals and answered the questions of the audience.

Finally, the status of medical physics in the country was discussed by the members of the directors’ board of medical physics association and present professors.
