Some engineers at Sharif University of Technology, supported by the Cognitive Sciences and Technology Council, have designed and constructed an olfactometer in order to conduct a research project in cognitive studies, supported by the Cognitive Sciences and Technology Council.
An olfactometer provides the human subjects with a series of scheduled olfactory stimuli including a variety of odors. Studying the brain’s response to such stimulus can assist researchers in understanding the structure and the function of the brain.
This device which is portable and compatible with brain imaging techniques used to perform a variety of tests such as polysomnography, fNIRS, EEG, fMRI, and behavioral or interactive olfactory tests without the need for acquisition brain signals.
