Workshop on the fundamentals of MRI physics, its applications and data acquisition principals, July 2018
The skills training workshop on the fundamentals of MRI physics, its application and principals was held at NBML
The skills training workshop on the fundamentals of MRI physics, its application and principals was held at NBML with the purpose of teaching theoretical fundamentals, physics as well as training the way the MRI scanner operates and basic skills to work with it, on July 23-24 2018.
List of workshop topics on the first day (theoretical):
- Introduction to the MRI imaging modality
- The hardware and equipment of MRI scanner
- The basic physics of magnetic resonance
- How to stimulate and acquire MR signal and image
- Obtaining a variety of contrasts in tissues
- Spatial frequency domain concept(k-space)
- Prevalent pulse sequences
- MRI application in the cognitive sciences field
On the second day, participants who acquired at least 75% of the theoretical test score, were allowed to enter the practical section and trained to work with the scanner.
List of workshop topics on the second day (practical):
- Introduction to the necessary hardware for imaging (coils, devices etc.)
- How to adjust the imaging parameters of the MRI scanner
- Design a practical session
- Adjustment of imaging parameters to acquire a data sample and various image contrasts
This workshop was taught by the researcher at the Doners Institue for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour, Dr. Vahid Malkian along with Ms. Shaghayegh Karimi, the Physicist and MRI Specialist at NBML.
