The theoretical-practical workshop of introduction to the basics of MRI and fMRI and Data Acquisition was held by National Brain Mapping Lab on February 27 & 28, 2019. Dr. Vahid Malekian and Shaghayegh Karimi instructed the theoretical part, by various topics which contained the basics of MRI physics, Image construction in MRI and fMRI, physiology and the source of BOLD signal, different methods for fMRI data acquisition and related pulse sequences, and a quick look at the preprocessing methods for fMRI data and GLM model. At the end of the first day, a written examination was conducted and the attendants, who acquired the acceptable score, entered the second part of the workshop, the next day. The practical part of the workshop contained the following topics:
- Introduction to necessary hardware for Imaging
- How to adjust the imaging parameters on the MRI scanner
- Designing an fMRI session
- Adjusting the imaging parameters for functional data acquisition
