NBML held the theoretical-practical workshop on modern methods of brain tumors imaging as the ISBM 22th side event on October 17, 2018. Dr. Mohammad Reza Nazemzadeh and Ms. Shaghayegh Karimi taught the theoretical and practical sections respectively. The topics taught at this workshop were as follows:
The theoretical section:
- An introduction to the MRI modality
- MRI machine’s hardware and equipment
- How to stimulate and obtain MR signal and image
- Conventional pulse sequences
- Conventional MRI application in brain tumors studies- advantages and deficiencies
- Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) fundamentals and functions in brain tumors studies
- Perfusion imaging fundamentals and functions
- Tractography imaging fundamentals and functions
The practical sections:
- An introduction to required hardware for imaging (coils, devices, etc.)
- How to adjust the imaging parameters on MRI scanner
- Design one practical test session
