One-day introductory workshop on eye tracking method. December 2018

Eye-tracking systems are among the most important devices used in research on behaviors and decision making.

Eye-tracking systems are among the most important devices used in research on behaviors and decision making. Tracking one’s point of gaze and measuring the variation in pupil size provide valuable information about the presence, attention, concentration, and other mental and cognitive states of the person, which may lead to a deep insight into human behaviors.

Regarding the importance of this issue, NBML in collaboration with the Atieh Derakhshane Zehn group held a one-day introductory workshop on eye tracking on December 13, 2018, taught by Dr. Javad Hatami (associate professor at Tehran University) and Dr. Mahdi Zahedi Nobaghi (graduated from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad).

During this workshop, 40 participants from behavior-related fields were introduced to the theoretical and practical aspects of eye tracking, how to design and implement an eye tracking experiment, gaze based analysis and eye tracker applications in human-centered studies.

This workshop topics were as follows:

  1. Information processing in human
  2. Human memory
  3. Visual attention
  4. Eye’s movement
  5. Eye tracking and eye tracker
  6. Supplementary research method
  7. Field and prospects of using an eye tracker
