A two-day workshop on theoretical and practical neurofeedback was held by National Brain Mapping Lab, on 31st January & 1st February.
A two-day workshop on theoretical and practical neurofeedback was held by National Brain Mapping Lab, on 31st January & 1st February. Dr. Mohammad Ali Nazari was the instructor of the workshop, which contained the following topics:
- An introduction to neurofeedback and its applications
- Hardware and software related to neurofeedback
- How to find the location of the electrodes on the scalp, based on 20-10 system: practical training
- Different types of montages in neurofeedback (monopolar and bipolar, single channel and dual channel)
- The correct method of sticking the electrodes with minimum resistance and high-quality EEG acquisition, or Baseline
- Basic principles of EEG, an introduction to Brain Mapping (QEEG)
- Different types of artifacts and how to determine and remove them
- Initial analysis of EEG, acquiring the exact and real values of different brain waves: the connection between brain Waves and behavior – practical training
- EEG acquisition and reporting the baseline, and formulation of the treatment protocol for ADHD and anxiety disorder – practical training
- Introduction to how to perform treatment sessions with neurofeedback: an introduction to treatment windows (brain waves, thresholds and different types of feedback)
- The role of therapist in neurofeedback, clinical and ethical considerations
- A discussion about rights and wrongs in neurofeedback and the misuses
