The 6th brain and cognition student summer school (for female students)

NBML held the 6th brain and cognition summer school in cooperation with the Iranian Neuroscience Society and supported by Cognitive Sciences and Technology Council on August 23-28, 2018. This school was held for the first and second grade high school girl students and with the presence of prominent professor of this field. The Brain and Cognition Clinic also collaborated on holding this school.

This school initiated on the Thursday morning (august 23) with the presence of Dr. Abharian at the Iran University of Medical Sciences. After the opening ceremony and introduction of professors and students getting to know, professional classes with different topics formed as follows:

The first day (Iran University of Medical Sciences):

Nervous system histology, anatomy, and autopsy of brain (Dr. Ehsan Golchini), neuroscientific approach to group-making (Dr.Panahi)

The second day (Iran University of Medical Sciences):

Physiology/ electrophysiology (Dr. Soraya Mehrabi), research method on cognitive neurosciences (Dr. Shima Talehi)

The third day (NBML):

Brain mapping (Dr. Amirhossein Batouli), neuroplasticity (Dr. Nazemzadeh), school preparation session (research hypothesis presentation) along with advisors.

The fourth day (NBML):

Language and thinking (Mrs. Mahdiye Karami), memory and leaning (Dr. Setareh Mokhtari)

The fifth day (NBML):

Cognitive aspects of psychiatric diseases (Dr. Parvaresh), sensation and perception (Dr. Mohammad Reza Abolghasemi), cognitive aspects of Neurological diseases (Dr. Mostafa Almasi).

The sixth day (Brain and Cognition Clinic):

Closing ceremony including judging student’s hypothesis and proposals and awarding prizes

It is worth noting that practical evaluation were made from students in order to test the school’s effectiveness.
